Registration Opens for the 3rd Ibero-American Passivhaus Award

The Passivhaus Building Platform launches the third edition of its Ibero-American award, coinciding with the 7th Spanish Passivhaus Conference in Barcelona. PAPIK Group takes part with PassivPalau.

The sector's interest in the Passivhaus standard grows year after year, and with it the number of specialised professionals and buildings certified under such demanding criteria. Against this backdrop, the Passivhaus Building Platform (PEP) is organising the 3rd Ibero-American Passivhaus Award, coinciding with the 7th Spanish Passivhaus Conference to be held in Barcelona on 26 and 27 November. This is the third edition of a call that seeks to give visibility to Passivhaus projects across the Ibero-American region.

Who can take part

The award is open to projects developed to the Passivhaus standard, whether new build or retrofit, and whether already built or still at the drafting stage, provided they are located in Spain or Ibero-America. The jury will place particular value on projects that introduce improvements in sustainability or environmental certification. The aim is to combine the Passivhaus standard with ecological housing systems and to move towards the ecological passive house.

Recognition for the winner

From among all the entries, the jury will select a single winner. Beyond the recognition itself, the winning project will have fifteen minutes to present its work at the 7th Spanish Passivhaus Conference, before the professional audience gathered in Barcelona.

In the previous edition, the second Ibero-American award held in 2013, the prize went to «Multiplica't per deu», a residential block by the Arquitectura Clim studio and Construccions Urrutia, presented by Adelina Uriarte. In this edition, PAPIK Group takes part with PassivPalau, a single-family home that, thanks to the results achieved, has established itself as a reference in high energy efficiency and Passivhaus. The presence of projects like this helps to raise awareness of high-efficiency building, sustainable construction and passive houses.

Deadline and registration

The deadline to register for the award is 26 June, and participation carries a fee of 30 euros. To complete registration, entrants must send an email to concurso@plataforma-pep.org with the subject line «REGISTRATION».

Each new edition confirms that the Passivhaus standard has ceased to be a technical exception and has become a shared language across the entire Ibero-American sector.
